I have wanted to go 100% natural for years but did not want to do the big chop. About five years ago I went six months without a relaxer but after fustration and a tender head from combing I lyed to myself again. After having my son and wanted to not give him anything not natural I decided to stop relaxing. It was me breastfeeding that made me make this decision. I had my last relaxer in November of 2006. During this time I only did roller wraps with flat iron. During the spring when I started to work out I was washing my hair twice a week and decided the flat ironing wasn't worth it. That is when I slowly started to cut off my hair.

In November of this year I cut the very last of permed ends off. it made a huge difference. with the help of motowngirl.com and other fotki members I have been learning how to care for my natural hair. At times it is still a stuggle but I realize I am in trial and error with my hair. Overall.... I Love Me, the Skin I'm In and My Hair.

I am really enjoying being natural. Of course I am still learing ways to care for it and open to any and all ideas. One thing I have learned is my hair is unique. Whenever I see a natural person I stop and stare. I am in awe. It is amazing how in my teens I saw it as nappy (in a bad way) hair and now it is so beautiful. When I have a daughter I promise to never damage what God has given her. All of us have beautiful hair that is so different, some white people tell me they wish they could do their hair like mines. Now isn't that something!?! I can not stress how even though I get an ugly comment here and there I still smile because this is me.
