- I have finally taken the initial step to the true “ME”. For so many years I have wanted to go natural but as I work in "corporate america" it wasn’t as “socially accepted” as it is today. I’ve never been one to let others dictate what I do but for some reason going natural was the one thing I didn’t have the courage to do.
Lately I had been seeing so many sistahs with natural hair and they looked absolutely BEAUTIFUL. They had a certain confidence about themselves that I so desperately wanted. I perused so many websites looking at pics of natural styles that I decided to go ahead and get my perm cut off. I scheduled a consultation with a stylist that evening (May 9, 2007) and we decided to to “gradually” cut out the perm the next day. Well…things didn't turn out as planned. During the day while at work, I ran across this one young lady's website and it changed my life forever. Reading her story and viewing her pics inspired me so much that when I arrived at my appointment, I decided to do the BIG CHOP. Yes…I got ALL of the perm cut off that day.
I have never experienced such a freedom! I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner. Yeah I may look like a plucked chicken right now but I can truly envision what is to come and I CAN'T WAIT!!!
I plan to chronicle my journey here and hopefully make some friends along the way.
