About 5 years ago I wanted a change. I had never had the back of my hair shaved so I decided to rock a short cut with spikes. I went to the salon every week to keep that cut up. I remember I had missed a week and when my beautician saw the new growth that had come in on the sides she became so excited. She said that I had to go natural. I looked in the mirror and saw all of this wavy hair on the sides of my head and I said, "No way!" I told her that I liked my hair dead straight so reluctantly she relaxed it.

A year and a half later I began to ponder on the idea of going natural. There are some natural ladies at my church so I saw their beautiful hair every week and I was getting tired of my hair breaking off when it got to a certain length. I then began to do a little research on my own and February 2008 I decided to stop the relaxers. I transitioned for almost 7 months but in the end, I cut it down to 3/8th of an inch.

After 3 or 4 bad dye experiences, I went back down to 2 inches on December 31, 2009. I also moved to the north and decide to protect my tresses with weaves and lace wigs.

My natural hair journey has been quite interesting thus far. I know that it is not just about my physical appearance, I am learning more about me and who God created me to be.

I also am a newly wed. I got married on May 1st, 2010:) Praise God!!! I gotta good one:)

My hair routine:

I wash my hair bi-weekly with baking soda. I use a mixture of of shea butter and olive oil or coconut oil to detangle my hair with my denman brush and then I cornrow my hair.

In-between I spray my scalp and edges with vitamin e oil.
That's it and that's all:)
