- I'm following the C&G challenge from www.growafrohairlong.com. I have decided to take this challenge and see what my hair can do when taken care of it. Am doing the Crown and Glory Technques that the creator of the site, Robin shows. In the Grown and Glory Technque, i will be focusing on the Braids Regimen.
This Site is a documentary of my hair journey. ENJOY!
I became interested in natural hair back in febuary 2004 in high school. At that time, I didnt know a lot about natural hair and how to take care of it so unfortunately I put texturizer in my hair after growing about 2 inches of natural hair. I didnt like the result from the texturized hair so I decided to go naturala AGAIN in august 2004. I braided my hair in hope of growing my natural hair back...I did, however, somewhere in June 2005, my sister accidently use some kind of chemical in my hair ( we were trying to press it lol) and as a result, my hair got burned!!! I later on find out that that "chemical" is for deep conditioning and not for pressing hair. Well, so I ended up cuting the back of my hair the following day or two. Through all those time, I didnt really know how to take care of natural hair. I mean I would go wks without putting moisturizer in my hair or deep-conditioning.
I started researchign how to take care of natura hair and find out about www.roshini.net , www.fotki.com ,and www.growafrohairlong.com . I think without these sites, I would have still be strugling with my hair.
Anyways, after the June 2005 incident, I decided to really pay attention to my hair but it was still hard. In October 2006, I find www.growafrohairlong.com and fell in love with the C&G braiding techniques. Everything about the technques makes sense to me and this time I promise myself to really take care of my hair! The first thing I thought of was cutting my split ends!!! so that's what I did. I realized my hair was really damage! I cut half of the lengh (I call that my BIG CUT!). So if anybody ask me when was my "BIG CUT" day, I just say October 2006 because that was when I really cut my hair and started taking care of it.
