Hi All, I haven't updated any photos in months, my hair has been in twists for 8 weeks now and each week I have no idea when I will pull them out. I have been so busy with my kids and life and am also expecting again - so life suddenly became triply busy. I don't have time to do my hair anymore and all my regimes I had in place have gone on holiday! My hair has seen a wash about once or twice in the last 2 months. Keep me in your prayers as I am finding this era of my life a little tough.

Hi I am new to Fotki, decided to join since seeing all the lovely hair growth photos online that really inspired me. I have been natural for 12 years now and have not known how to look after the fine textured tresses I have.

Everytime my hair grew to my shoulders I would get it pressed, swing it about a bit and then watch the hairdresser cut it all of a few months later due to bad ends etc. I would always end up in tears so every year I signed myself off to having a big chop and tears to go with it. At one point I thought there must be another way! Then I saw the crown and glory technique, which I followed and within a yer my hair was shoulder length again. Again I had it hot combed as it was some big celebration and of course the hairdresser knew best to giving me that head turning style with her flat iron.

Last Dec (2007) was my last big chop, it was 5 days before Christmas and I watched as all of 4inches or so of hair fall to the floor. Inwardly I said "bye" to my hair dresser of 9 years and "never again" to myself!

I ran home and cried again to my hubby and vowed to follow the natural hair care regime without giving into hairdressers. Also I did not know black people could grow their hair so long until I discovered LHCF and Fotki. I suddenly became inspired and even found someone who had inspired me from Crown & Glory pages with her hair journey. People encouraged me to document hair growth as it motivates you to stick to the journey. Moreover the ladies photos I have seen have sparked that light in me that God did intend or woman's hair to be her glory (no matter what race you are).

I want to grow my hair to BSL, as I've never achieved this before and didn't think it was possible. So thank you sisters for your hair growth journeys, messages and advice.
