Got my first relaxer at age 10. Subsequently for 12 years, chemical straightening was a routine part of my hair care regimen. My hair was thriving, thick and "long" -- never shorter than shoulder length, however it never seemed to grow longer than that either. I was content.

Until April 2009 - as if a long over due epiphany - something just clicked in my head ----- rather, transformed in my mind... I could not properly justify WHY I was subjecting my hair to an abnormal process 3-4 times a year. Why continue blindly pursuing an impossible "standard" of beauty [straight hair]? One that will never grow out of my scalp.

WHY?!? For no good reason, I was habitually rejecting my crown and glory that God blessed me with. So, I made a decision to stop relaxing and discover my natural hair...Tag along if you'd like.
