Greetings Everyone. . .

I'm Sweet Caroline. I was born and raised in the beautiful Commonwealth of Virginia. Having been born and raised on the Rappahannock River and the Chesapeake Bay area, my days of youth were spent swimming, fishing, and crabbing. The most exciting part of living on the river was being able to watch the small, as well as large boats that frequented our area. In addition to the commercial fishing vessels, large yachts, and speed boats, was the annual visit of the aircraft carrier, The Currituck.

Each year, The Currituck, which could carry eight planes in its hanger, anchored in front of our home for three/four months during the summer. In addition to the eight planes on board, an additional 15-20 planes flew each day from the Norfolk Naval Base to participate in taking off and landing on the carrier, as well as the Bay. The Currituck was also home to approximately 1,000 sailors.

My siblings and I would spend hours each day and evening watching the daily maneuvers of these fascinating sea planes. When it came time for their departure, it was always a sad moment for all in the community. The only bright spot was knowing another new group of trainees would be returning the following summer to continue their training exercises.

Upon graduating from high school, I moved to Richmond, Virginia where I attended one of the oldest business colleges in the Commonwealth. It was in this beautiful city I would spend most of my adult life with a career in the dental/medical profession.

I enjoyed my career with the dental profession for over 25 years. Not only was it a pleasure getting to meet all the dental alumni from all parts of the Commonwealth and the U.S., but I got to meet those living abroad, as well. Throughout my career, I was afforded the wonderful opportunity of hosting several trips to Japan, Hong Kong, Macao, and London, England.

As a child, I had always dreamed of being able to travel abroad. Not only did I travel as part of my job, but my adoring two husbands were employed with agencies which required them to travel and/or reside overseas.

After the tragic death of my beloved first husband, I met and fell in love with my second husband who was born in Venice, Italy, and raised and educated in Cannes, Paris, France, as well as London, England. As he still had close family ties in Europe, we spent about six weeks each year visiting them, as well as journeying to other European countries.

Three years after meeting, my darling John-Charles and I married. Since he was already a Canadian citizen of 40+ years, we built our retirement home---our little paradise---in Ontario. Sadly, my beautiful husband passed away suddenly---after only eight very short and precious years of marriage. Although neither of us have relatives in Canada, I decided to remain in the city we knew and loved as home.

I miss him each and every day; but I also feel blessed that he touched my life---even though briefly. Our home and gardens are filled with so many beautiful memories; and even though we are parted, I still feel his presence near me daily. He is, and always will be, in my heart forever.

As I reflect upon my life, I feel so fortunate to have accomplished most of my goals, as well as my dreams. I feel particularly blessed, as a little country girl, to have experienced so many different aspects of what life has to offer. Life is whatever you make it to be---along with the good times, as well as the traumatic and tragic moments.

Thank you for stopping to visit me. I hope you will enjoy your time here; and please don't forget to leave me a note. I will try and get back to you as soon as I can.

In the meantime, I hope you will be blessed with a life filled with sunshine, happiness, and good health.

Love,

Sweet Caroline
