Cassandra *12/4/2011 - I'm LOC'D!*

Hey y'all! I have been stalking the albums so much I figured I needed to get one of my own going. So here I am! I was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. I still have my same best friends - 3 girls I met in the 5th grade when I left Catholic school and went to public school. And that is where my hair saga began - all three of them had really, really long hair. And then there was me.

In my quest to get the hair that I thought I was supposed to have, I went Five Heartbeats on it - it was "fried, dyed and laid to the side!" (One of my FAVORITE movies, by the way). When I heard India.Arie's "I Am Not My Hair" it was like she was talking about me! I had the curl...then all my hair broke off and I had to get it cut down to a short afro (shoulda left it that way). Then I had extensions...then a relaxer...then natural but pressed...then relaxer again. In college, I cut it short a couple of times, then let it grown, then got braids. I had no idea the trauma I was doing to my hairline.

I moved down south in 1999 and kept it short for most of that time but noticed it was definitely thin, and whenever I let it grow long, it had no fullness and was just not cute. I cut it all off in the summer of 2002 and got a texturizer. About a year into that I realized, I am paying too much to have curly hair and I let it grow out. In October 2003, my natural hair journey began!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :-)
