My last perm was on June 1, 2010. I had been wearing a relaxer for as long as I can remember. I’ve had horrible experiences with perms. I specifically remember my scalp being on fire several times both from at home no-lye and lye perm kits. My mom used to “chemical fry” my hair using Dark ‘n’ Lovely, from roots to tips every single month. I specifically remember a professional who had messed my scalp up so bad from using a lye relaxer that the next day my entire head was covered in scabs. True enough I can’t blame them, I myself was a major contributor of my own hair being brittle and overprocessed. I remember using heating appliances such as, hot curlers, blow dryers and flat irons on my hair daily. My hair had been extremely damaged from years and years of overlapping relaxers, heat appliance abuse and neglect from not using any moisture products.

So goggling on the web I came across the nappturality website and began reading on how to take care of natural hair, using moisture, and babying the ends daily. So I did that for a while and my hair began to flourish, however it was not really “healthy” because I was trying to revive something that was already dead…my hair! So I did the BC and will no longer be perming. I’m hoping to grow my hair in its natural state from here on in. My long term goal is to have all waist length napptural hair.

~My current hair regimen~

Conditioner Washes
Products: V05, Suave, Neutrogena
Conditioner Washes: Daily.

MT (Mega Tek) 3 times per week.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Shampoo:
Oyin's Grand Po Bar or other all natural soaps

Leave-in:
Products: Nexxus or Aphoghee sealed with Coconut or Avocado Oil

Styling:
I use a Denman brush (D4) to style my hair and use wide tooth combs to detangle.
