My name is Channelle. I'm in college and have decided to transition from relaxed to natural hair! I'm very excited and curious because I have not been natural since I was six years old. I don't remember my hair at all and I don't have any good photos so I'm in for a surprise! We'll see what happens I guess... My last relaxer was January 6, 2009... here we go!

well... it's growing. I cut liiiittle bits of hair around my ears and nape just to have a little natural place that I can easily check up on lol. uhmm I straightened my bangs once (put the rest in a bun)... about a month ago and haven't used heat since and don't plan to. I actually did not straighten my hair after the relaxer, I was soo mad at myself for putting my hair through all the chemical processing that I couldn't bare to put heat on it TOO. I've done all of my styling sin-heat and I'm proud of that... I want to keep my relaxed hair as healthy as possible and I do not want to damage my new growth... I was never good at straightening my whole head anyway. Im going to try to manipulate my hair less to avoid unnecessary breakage.

My new growth is definitely showing lol. The two textures are already starting to drive me crazy but I still plan to keep up with my transition as long as possible. I'm noticing some extra breakage of my relaxed hair... that's to be expected. It makes me excited when I see shed hairs with curly roots. Some days I get super frustrated but I'm still moving forward and very ready to see my natural hair. I've been snipping more little areas to see what my hair looks like so I've got a small natural patch on the left side of my nape... I also cut that area because it was breaking badly. Hopefully I'll get some new pics up in a week or two... end of the semester is keeping me busy.

~4.5 months post relaxer

Well that natural patch on the left side of my nape has definitely transformed into a full out natural nape lol... very interesting. I half dread wash days.... two textures still annoy me... but now that I'm home and I dont have to use the showers n my dorm... I found that completely submerging my head under water is the easiest way to get through both textures lol... so I make a bath and do that. It's a little weird but hey! It works. I think I've perfected my braid outs this month! I'm excited... cute style for summer.

Still on the grow... kinda bored with my hair. I haven't enjoyed playing in it lately, maybe because I've been so busy. My roommate and I did cut off a few inches of my relaxed hair to help with a tangling problem... other than that, not much is new!
