I'm so excited..I finally made a fotki page...
This page is going to be a journey of me and my hair...
Until January 2008, I was natural for 2.7 years, but I didn't style it very well or take care of it that much..However, I am a supporter of those who do go natural cause it really is the best state that your hair can be in. So back to the "creamy crack" for me!!!
I currently have type 4a/4b hair that's colored and I use a Mizani relaxer (Butter Blends--Regular). I had to start ALL over in what I used for my hair after a "botched" color job in June of 08. I had to have at least two protein treatments, a sew-in, and a cut of all the hair was damaged (which was a good bit) to start the process of me getting my hair back into a healthy state.
So now my hair is really healthy, but VERY VERY THIN and I hate this..cause I have a Rhihead..(head like Rhianna)..hehe...
This video also helped too...Watch it!
WHAT I USE!!! (Photo album up soon..)
Relaxer: Mizani Butter Blends Rhelaxer (Regular)...just moving back home and trying to find a stylist who uses Mizani products
Shampoos: Aphogee Shampoo for Damaged Hair, Neutrogena Triple Moisture Cream Lather Shampoo
Conditioners: Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner, Aphogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor (use this every week, except when I am dc'ing..
Deep Conditioners: ORS Olive Oil pack (1X every other week), Aph. TwoStep Protein Treatment w/ Balancing Moisturizer pack(1/6wks), Henna n' Placenta Pack (1/8 weeks..I use this for the first wash after getting a relaxer)
Leave-Ins: Aphogee Keratin and Green Tea Reconstructurizer (sp?), Aph. Leave-in Pro Vitamin Conditioner, Kids Organics Shea Butter Lotion, Dr. Miracles/WGO/MN Mix...Desperately trying to get rid of this Dr. Miracles and replace with Mega Tek...
Styling Products: Fantasia IC Heat Protector Serum, Fantasia IC Styling Gel (use the week or two before relaxer for braid outs or air drys, use as needed on edges), Aphogee Wrap Lotion, Mizani Bodyifying Oil Sheen (love this stuff)
Vitamins: (VERY HELPFUL..I also asked my doctor before I started taking the additionals besides the Multi and the H-S-N) GNC Ultra Mega Women's Vitamin WELLNESS program (its about 6 pills a day), GNC Hair, Skin, and Nails PROGRAM (an additional 4 pills a day), Phyto-Estrogen formula (has a good bit of Evening Primrose Oil that helps with hair health..it also helped me regulate cycles..check with dr. first), Tonalin CLA( the best thing for adding lean muscle mass, losing weight and keeping it off), St. John's Wort (good for mood), Ginkoba Memory (I was having too many senior moments for a 21 year old...it helped though..lmao!), and I am about to add GNC Glucosamine/Chondroitin and Echineacha (I completely fudged that up) due to the cold weather coming (meaning colds and flu) and my joints like to act up then. I also drink Muscle Milk Lite once or twice a day.
I am a pharmacy tech and pre-pharmacy student...that's probably why I take so many vitamins..lol..I try to do things the natural way and it'll help in the future.
I wash and condition my hair every 4 days or so..I work out so...I deep condition every 2-3 weeks depending on how bad i need it..I clarify using baking soda every now and then (I just add it to one of my shampoos). I get my hair relaxed every 8 to 10 weeks with a dust..not a cut..nor a trim. This is also the only time I go to a stylist...I can do my own wrap and I believe that I can do a rollerset too..I'm taking a break from weave/braids for the rest of the year ( and I am a recovering weavaholic...and I'm gonna try to grow it on my own.
I also drink about 64-72 oz. of water a day and I work out at least 4 times (min.) to 7 times a week (I'm good if i can reach that)
I am looking for any and all advice to help me grow healthy, relaxed (and long would be nice too..but not a must..) hair!!
