- I am currently transitioning. My last relaxer was Dec 3, 2008 and I hope to transition at least18 to 24 months using mainly braids but also wigs and when I'm further along phony puffs. My hair thrives when I leave it alone hence I will mostly be in braids for the next 2 years. The regimen below is my regimen from when I was relaxing my hair.
I started this fokti to track my hair progress. Feel free to leave comments and such!
My regimen is pretty straightforward. I wash my hair two or three times a week and either air dry or rollerset depending on how busy I am with school. I prepoo with any combination of oils which always includes coconut oil and maybe cheapie conditioner if I am feeling a little frisky. I deep condition every time I wash. I clarify about once a month and I take one multivitamin and two ultranourishair everyday. I relax no less than 8 to 9 weeks but am trying to stretch longer.
I leave room in my regimen to play around bc I like playing with my hair. For example, I switch up the oils every once in a while but will never stray from my beloved coconut oil. Also, I love SMALL changes in color and found henna to be a safer and less damaging to my hair than semi-permanent colors or rinses. As long as something doesn't stray too far from my regimen I love to experiment.
I also do my main detangling under the shower while my hair is still soaked in conditioner with a wide toothed comb. As of the last couple of months I "lurk joined" bootcamp so I have used no direct heat (blowdryers or flat irons). My hair does seem a lot healthier than when I did these frequently so after bootcamp I will definately continue to cut down (although not completely eliminate) direct heat and continue to rely on indirect heat like my hood dryer.
My products:
Prepoo: coconut oil plus whatever strikes my fancy
Shampoo- regular is Nexxus Sleektress, clarifying is Nexxus Aloe Rid
Deep conditioner- moisture is Pantene relaxed and natural mask every wash, protein is ORS mayo every 2 to 4 weeks depending on what my hair tells me
Cheapie condish- whatever I decide to experiment from the daily cowasher's comments
Leave in- Salerm with B5
Daily moisturizer- Keracare daily creme thing but I am looking to change this when it runs out
Seal with- coconut oil for life
Serum- chi silk infusion - General Information
