~December 2009 UPDATE~
Hey there,
Just wanted to say that I've been missing in action for a minute from my Fotki album updates, but rest assured I'm still taking great care of my tresses and curls!! I'll be updating my album and responding to comments and private messages as I catch up during this FREEZING late FALL/WINTER weather. Hello there...I'm a Natural Curly head of Spirals,Waves,Coils and more*
I was a natural curly-girl for most of my life until my late teens when I was introduced to that box of D/Lovely relaxer..Lol!! Everybody knows about that relaxer...but from then on I was on a straight-hair mission chasing relaxers, and I was getting touch ups about every 3 to 6 mths depending on how I felt. Unfortunately my days with relaxers weren't all that I thought it would be, and after my many hair traumas from occasionally over-processed hair (by so called Professional/Licensed hair stylists), I became fed up with the entire process of being at the hair salons for countless hours and then leaving there not always being 100% satisfied with the end results. So in November 2005 I decided that was the last time I was go be relaxing my hair, and began my transitioning process from that moment on. I began by wearing my hair in braids faithfully for those first 8-9 months of my first year of transition with regular cleansing and conditioning. I did grow out a lot of that relaxer during the process, and chose to just cut inches off at a time instead of the BC most transitioners do. Even though I was glad to be natural I couldn't stay away from the temptation of permanent dyes, so I started getting bored with my hair and began bleaching my hair in the summer of 2006 when I had approximately 4 inches of relaxer on my ends. I also had to enjoy the 'straight look' by getting my hair flat-ironed monthly which eventually created a damage I wasn't anticipating. Despite all my little hair experiences and shenanigans I managed to keep my hair from falling out and kept some type of health routine for it by keeping it up alot in protective styles to recover....Now I'm back on a new Hair Mission as of this August '09 with a goal to achieve a more complete HEALTHY head of hair that's really HAPPY to be on my head!
