I am finally natural!! My BC was on July 11, 2009.
I didn't remember my true texture since my mother used to perm or relax my hair since I was 8 years old. Before that time my hair was kept in braids.
Right after my last touch up which was in August 2008 I looked for ways to wear my boring bone straight relaxed hair in curly styles. I don't know where that need for curls came from...This was when I found boingboing's blog (http://napturalboing.blogspot.com/) and decided to grow out the relaxer. I found a link to this website (http://www.biracialhair.org/Welcome.aspx) at boingboing's blog and contacted Teri. She was also a great support!
When I started to transition my hair was very long – between MBL and BSL.
My former transitioning buddy (http://members.fotki.com/samyka2/ ) and friend in real life also chopped in July 2009. She supported me a lot during the trandition. I found her through Naturallycurly (http://www.naturallycurly.com/curltalk/ ) - a great knowledge base with really supportive ladies.
