Updated-----I reached my 1st goal of full BSL on 10 Dec 2007!!!!! My next goal is to reach mid back. My hair type is 4a/b. I thought my fist goal was going to be difficult but it was not all that difficult. I have learned so much from all of the wonderulf ladies here. I'm hoping to reach healthy mid back by Dec 2008. I'm going to concentrate more on protective hair styles and very little handling of my hair. I do notice that when I wear my hair down I'm always combing and touching my hair. Wish me success as I head into the New Year of healthy happy growing.

Here's my regimen...

I take Hair-Skin & Nails from GNC, and a Multi Vitamin daily. I try to drink a full 64 oz. of water daily. I also usually exercise 4 or 5 days a week and I aiming for 7 hours of sleep a night if not more whenever I can. I also started drinking 4 oz of carrot juice daily also. I'm not sure if it's doing anything but I read it somewhere on someone's post that it's suppose to help with hair growth.

I wash and deep condition my hair twice a week, usually Tuesday and Saturday. I vary my weekly protein & moisturizing conditioner. After 6 months of taking really good care of my hair and washing twice a week, and deep conditioning each time, has helped me grow thick, healthy and stronger hair! I wash my hair now in the shower and then put on the conditioner then throw on a plastic shower cap. I keep my robe on and sit under the dryer usually only 20 minutes. I then jump back into the shower to rinse out my conditioner. I then moisturize with either S-curl or NTM follow up with the EVOO or coconut or some other oil. I usually just bun my hair while wet and wait for it to dry. Since it’s thick it usually takes two days. Now that I’m conditioning so much more than before it dries more manageable. I also moisturize every morning and then again at bedtime or whenever I see that my hair is dry. I also do rollersets on occasion when I treat myself to wearing my hair down.

At night, I moisturize, bun my hair and put a baggie over it to keep it really hydrated. I love the baggie method!!!! I have learned so much from Wifey and I usually follow her steps which works great for my hair also. I usually only baggie 4 or 5 days a week but I always wear a silk scarf on my hair at night and I sleep on a silk pillowcase.

I can't wait to see where this road will lead me and I'm so excited. I have made a committment to myself that I will no longer be a slave to heat appliances and to love and care for my hair. I'm learning so much stuff from all of you but I really want to concentrate on healthy hair and not just long hair.
