THE PAST

After somehow stumbling across http://www.growafrohairlong.com/ and being directed to the long hair care forums, I was in awe! Not only did these ladies have long hair, but they were of ethnic origin too! From there, I decided, I too wanted healthy hair.

Always known as 'the girl with the long hair', up until the age of 13, I was touching mid back length. I relaxed my hair sporadically and always had it braided up. I'm presuming this helped to retain the growth. But after becoming a teenager, I wanted to 'experiment', and along came the damage!

Despite this, constantly colouring it & without having much knowledge, I was able to maintain my length to a decent length (around BSL) throughout the years. In April 2005, I cut my hair just above shoulder length, however I was past APL by January 2006. In October 2006, I cut my hair to shoulder length, AGAIN (I got bored with my hair). However I am hoping by following a haircare regime, taking care of my health, and with knowledge gained from the LHCF, I'll be able to meet my long term goal of waist length along with thick healthy hair!

PRESENT

I have a combination of hair types. At the back it looks like 3a, in the middle 3b and at the sides 3c lol. My last relaxer was December 2006, and I don't intend to go back to that! I am officially TRANSITIONING!

REGIME:
I've changed my regime soooo many times because I have too many products. This is my current regime:

Daily Styling: Usually consists of a pony tail with the ends tucked under, or a bun. Just an easy style for me.

Wash every 5-6 days, clarify every two weeks with baking soda or tresemme cleansing shampoo. I alternate protein and moisture every week during my DC.

Shampoo: Whatever is on hand. Usually Giovanni 50/50 balanced shampoo, Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat or Nacidit Olive Oil Shampoo

Deep Condition:
Protein: I use a mixture of ORS Hair Mayonnaise, Giovanni Nutrafix Hair Remoisturiser and Silk protein Powder
Moisture: Silicon mix with Silk Protein powder, or Pantene Relaxed and Natural hair mask with Silk Protein powder

Daily Moisturiser: One of the following, depending on how my hair is acting on the day. Anita Grant Whipped Butter, or Redken Smooth Down Butter Treatment to smooth down the unruly hairs. At One Leave in Conditioner + water to untangle and brush hair into a style.

Heat Protectant: Chi Silk Infusion

Defining Curls: Garnier Fructis Curl Cream

Starting length A Few inches past shoulder length (Dec 06)
Goal 1: Armpit Length (Feb 07)
Goal 2: Bra Strap Length (Dec 07)
Goal 3: Mid Back Length: Aiming for August 2008
Goal 4: Waist Length: Aiming for December 2008
