Current Length (as of September 2011): Waist Length stretched, unstretched, hair is still about APL.

My current regimen (as of September 2011):
I wash maybe once or twice a week with Kinky Curly Come Clean - it is a SLS free shampoo that is gentle on my hair and does not make it feel like straw.

I am a minimalist when it comes to products. I use only a leave in conditioner, and coconut oil. After shampooing, I apply my leave in, and then twist or braid it up. From time to time (really, just whenever I remember) I apply coconut oil to my ends.

I also protective style like nobody's business. My hair is in buns or twists/braids in a bun 90% of the time. "Out hair" is simply a no-no for me at the moment.

That's pretty much it.

December 2010:
Shampoo - NONE
I do not put shampoo in my hair. EVER. I ONLY co-wash. And then if I feel like there is build up, I use bentonite clay. But quite frankly, since I use mostly water soluble products, I don't really get any build up. I think it's been close to two months since my last bentonite clay cleanse. Perhaps I'll do another right before the new year and document it.

Water/Co-wash: I do a lot of hair rinsing for the most part. I might through in some V05 or Suave every now and then and do a little scrub on the scalp, but that's it really.

Leave-in: PM the conditioner is still #1 in my book, but I'm having a hard time finding it these days. I like Giovanni direct leave in as well. I do a lot of bunning, and when I do, I actually just put some Aveda conditioner in and don't rinse it out.

Oil: Still a huge lover of coconut oil. I put it on my ends any time I think about it.

Gel: (only very occasional use) - still using Eco.

What is your hair type?
I really just call myself kinky-curly. I have kinks, waves, curls and the occasional coil. I have super thick hair that is also coarse. It's not super shiny, and it is by no means silky.

It does straighten well/easily however. Because it is so thick, it has been known to deceive a stylist or two into thinking it requires tons of heat. Not the case.

What products do you use?
Best products for my hair are a mix of protein (strength) and moisture. When I use the Eco, I balance with Infusium or Elixir. When I use the clay, I balance with Elucence BMC.

What is your routine?
I mostly do wash-n-gos (after co-washing with Elucence), with the occasional twists.

Well, let's see...

I've been walking this thing called a natural journey for quite a while, sometimes staying focused on the path, sometimes getting sidetracked and taking a detour. But with all detours, they eventually lead you back to the same route, as long as the final destination remains the same.

If you take a look through my album, you'll see my permed days, my texturized days, my weave days (yeah, I did it, AND it was fly!), my colored days, my first natural days, and now, my natural AND healthy days.

For me, it has been a long time coming. I haven't had a relaxer in YEARS, but pressing and color took a major toll on my hair. For a long time, I couldn't understand why I had so many "pesky straight ends"...was this just my texture? WRONG!!! It was crazy damage.

A lot of us don't like to admit it, but damaged hair is not good. Just let it go. If you start with a clean slate, everything that follows will be that much more beautiful!
