4/29/08---I finally stopped the creamy crack and chopped my relaxed hair off. I have absolutely no routine yet, I'm just trying out different products. Very excited about this Natural Journey :)

I remember when I was a little girl and getting my hair done by my mom. I've always had long thick hair since I can remember. I was sitting in my chair right after she washed it and remembering looking in the mirror and loving my hair. I asked my mom if I could wear it like this, with all the curls and waves and kinks. She just laughed and pulled out the blow dryer and hot comb :) I really wish I had never been relaxed, but I can't go back in time, can I? At least I am doing something about it now.

My current regimen (as of oct 08):

I make sure to deep condition with either Aubrey Organics Honey Suckle Rose, Aubrey Organics White Camellia, or a caramel treatment at least once a week. I cowash with Suave Tropical Coconut conditioner and occasionally use diluted castile soap if I feel the need beforehand. I detangle about once a week with the Denman brush or a widetoothed comb while my hair is soaked with conditioner and under the showerstream. If I wear wash n gos a few days in a row, I just fingercomb everyday while my hair is wet. I use no cones unless they are water soluble. I rarely use shampoo. I occasionally like to do oil rinses with either olive oil or grapeseed oil.

For wash n gos, I cowash with Suave, use a leave in such as Abba Nourishing or Knot Today followed by Kinky Curly Curling Custard. I then plop with a microfiber towel or tshirt for about 5 minutes.

For twists, I use a small amount of leave in followed by either Oyin Whipped Pudding, shealoe, Hairveda Whipped Cream, or Qhemet Heavy Cream. For fingercoils, I use a liberal amount of leave in and Fantasia IC gel with sparkalites. When wearing a protective style, I spritz daily with my homemade aloe vera/glycerin spritz or Oyin Frank juice to keep it moisturized.

If my scalp becomes itchy or dry, I use jojoba oil mixed with a few drops of lavender or peppermint essential oils.


Homemade spritz:
1 part aloe vera gel
1 part water
A little veggie glycerin
a few drops essential oils
