My name is Lynda and I was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. I moved to the USA just over 10 years ago when I met my (now) husband online ~ on the chat program ICQ. My husband was in the US Military and retired in February of 2004, after 20 YEARS of service! Our daughter Audrey turned 17 in October! (yikes!!)
We moved from Odenton Maryland to Palm Bay Florida in September of 2006, and we all just love it here! I am missing my neighbours something awful back in MD, and we still haven't found a doctor or dentist older than ourselves (or one we like).
I did find a superb surgeon who did the surgery on my back on February 28th, 2007! Not one surgeon would touch me in Maryland, so decided to stick me on *very* heavy pain meds, which I've been on for just over 4 years now! This new surgeon explained to us that orthopedic surgeons down here have been finding that surgeons in the North-East do *not* do back surgery unless you're dying. I know when we were still in Maryland, there was always news about how the docs couldn't afford the insurance they need, but then couldn't afford "not" to be a doctor. The good 'ole "catch 22."
I have a super Pain Management doctor who is reducing me off of the morphine "very" slowly. 15mg each month. So far, so good, and I am now under 100mg per day (big difference, as I was on 400mg/day when we moved here in Sept of 2006!!)
I'm doing better every day, and each day I can do more. I tied my own sneakers yesterday!! ;-) The surgery lasted 5 HOURS, as they found a birth defect that none of us (parents, myself or the doc) knew I had! I now have 12 screws, 4 rods, 3 implants and a cage all attached to my spine! (not to mention the 2 fusions) I'm sure going to be letting off the alarms at the airport when I fly home to Toronto to visit! LOL!!
My cat, Sammy is a chocolate brown, long haired Maine Coon (see photo of avatar) I've had her since she was 4 weeks old, and she turned 17 YEARS old on June 20th!! She still runs around & chases things like she was a kitten, and as weird as it may sound, she is the love of my LIFE! I have always said to my husband, the day something happens to her, make sure they bring the "white coat" for me, because God knows, I'm going to need it!!!
My DH & I do things like crossword puzzles, gardening, and various mystery shopping jobs to keep ourselves busy, and our minds active.

I do a LOT of couponing and refunding which brings in a few hundred extra bucks each month, we sell a lot on eBay, and I'm addicted to tags & stats!! I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to learn how to add my own text to blanks, so if you are a tag maker, who has some patients ...would *YOU* like to teach me how to add text to a blank tag? =) I am a quick learner, I have a *TON* of blank tags and also have PSP9 & Animation Shop.
I have tags on this site for the majority of my family and friends. I am only just beginning to add names, so please be patient until I get them all uploaded. Because of the back surgery, I'm not spending as much time at this PC as I'm used to. If you want to snag anything, all I ask is that you leave me a short message for whatever tag(s) you snagged. I like to know who's been here and which tag(s) you like best.
