- Hello ladies... I have decided it's quite alright for me to be the peculiar beautiful person that God has created, free from the need of approval and validation of others. So much makes little sense to me, and the rather obvious seems to elude most others. This is one of the reasons that I have grown to love this site, not just for the pictures....but to meet others that are not afraid to step outside the box. Not afraid to be different and to embrace those differences. And I don't just mean our hair, which is a really big deal by itself; but to step outside of what western civilization and the mass media and society in general has deemed to be beautiful and desirable; and demand that they take notice, there is nothing at all wrong with what God himself designed. For some of us, even those closest to us don't always get it right away.
I have been Liberated from the bondage of weekly hair appts. stealing away my Saturday mornings, I have been liberated from having my hair dictate my lifestyle....what can I wear today (how many days has our hair determined what we wore), where can I go (Is it the Thurs before the Sat perm and your head it tore up, or is it a nice refreshing dip in the pool that you have to pass up), will it rain today (no longer do I have sprint through the parking lot terrified of a few drops of rain or dew....rain is my friend now, no longer will I be afraid...HOW SWEET IT IS!)
What has surprised me though is my new found confidence! I am so much more active and flirtatious. Instead of shrinking under my very kinky hair...I have blossomed and I dare anyone to challenge me.
I am inspired by the pictures of your beautiful kinky tresses, your thoughts on nutrition, religion, music and politics. I am most impressed by all the very young sistas out there that refuse to conform, just for the sake of acceptance and a false sense of beauty and desirability. How beautiful each and every one of you are!!
