~~~~Update.......my hair has been doing great besides the fact that I neglected it for months!......I am on a 100 Day Challenge........I am back on track now caring for my hair!! I hope all the ladies and gentlemen on her are having AMAZING journeys also!!!!

I decided to go natural in May 2005 because i was tired of getting relaxers, wrapping my hair every night just so it could look good in the morning, and picking sores out of my hair everytime i got a relaxer. I had really nice hair though(I'll post pics). I have always wanted to go natural but was afraid of the outcome because i didn't know how i would look with short hair. In Dec. '05, after 5 months of the kinky twists, when i took my it out, i washed my hair and tried to comb it. Yeah right! I went to the barber right then and did the big chop. I have to do things spontaneously, b/c if i think about it, i will chicken out. Anyway, I thought i was going to cry my eyes out, but to my surprise, i was smiling! I was so happy to finally let go of the straight hair!! I went to my cousin's house(she was already natural) to show her what i did. She was sooo shocked. Everyone thought i was joking when i said i was going to chop my hair off b/c i had been saying it for such a long time. My cousin loved it though. She went to the same barber and got her fro choped down b/c she loved mine so much. When my parents and friends saw it though, that was another story. They were like why did you do it?! Your hair was soo pretty!! I told them whatever, and that i loved it!!!!

Throughout the year, everyone adjusted to my hair and said i should never relax again. But as the months went by, it became harder and harder to take care of my hair. All i did was wash, grease and picked out. It didn't seem like it was growing and i started missing my hair b/c the relaxed hair was easier to maintained. I became more and more frustrated and finally in Dec. '06, just before my one year mark, i went to the salon and got a relaxer. My boyfriend, who was very supportive of me, went with me hoping he could change my mind b/c he loved the fro so much(Mind you he didn't want me to cut my hair in the beginnging). The moment i left the shop, i regreted what i did. And i don't regret anything i've done. The next week i found someone to do some micro's and have started another transition. My last!!

By reading all your routines and regimes and the different things you all do with your hair, i am even more inspired to continue with my journey. Please feel free to leave comments or tips that i can use to treat my hair. I will continue to post pictures of my different transition styles and the the BC. I plan to transition for 8 months to a year.
