FEBRUARY 2012 UPDATES!!!!!

UPDATE: I got into medical school!!! I am now a 1st year med student so my time for haircare has been severely limited :-( but i will do my best to keep my page updated!

I officially began my hair journey in July 2008 after being tired of having flat hair from perms and not seeing any real growth in my hair length and health.

I am also on BGLH (black girl with long hair), NAPPTURALITY and K.I.S.S). Im hoping to gain knowledge, tips, hair health, hair length/strength, and many many new found friends on my fotki! So here's to attaining all the hair goals that i have set for myself =->

OH YEA.....IM CURRENTLY 1 year and 1 month NEWLY NATURAL AND LOVING EVERY BIT OF MY JOURNEY!

--I transitioned from April 2009 to Jan 2011 (yes thats about a 22 month transition...i kept trimming little by little and finally cut the rest off in Jan 2011)

GOALS FOR 2012:
1) Get my ends healthier!!
---->Plan to do this via consistent moisturizing and Trims
2)Reach APL by Dec 2012!!
3) Try henna gloss in the spring and see if i want to incorporate it

GOALS ACHIEVED IN 2011:
1) Learned soo many new protective styles for my hair
2) My hair grew in braids/twists once again!
3) Reached SL June 2011!!!


Hair Goals achieved in 2010:
1) Grew my hair in braids and twists! (this protective style helped my hair grow by just leaving it ALONE)
2)Used heat (flat irons) only TWO times this year!!!! June and Dec =->
3) Made it to a YEAR of being relaxer free (on my 21st bday in April :-D
4) Learned so much about what my hair liked/disliked
5) Maintained 3 textures (natural, texlaxed, and relaxed) with minimal breakage!


Regimen (UPDATED 02/21/2012)

**IMPORTANT NOTE: Whenever I'm in braids, my whole reggie pretty much transfers to the Crown & Glory Method in terms of washing, DC'ng , and moisturizing

Wash>>2X's a month--I currently wash with a variety of Chagrin Valley Shampoo bars (ayurvedic, olive & babassau, Marshmallow & babassau, coconut milk, Honey Beer & Egg)

--clarify w/ baking soda every 3 washes

Co-wash>> 1X every other week (i CW on weeks that i dont shampoo wash)

-V05 moisture milks


Pre-poo (when i have time)
-- Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Protein Treatment
****EGG/MAYO/Plain nonfat yogurt (after clarifying washes)


DC*****ONCE a week on wash day
--rotate Organics Hair mayonnaise, Lekair Cholesterol, Lustrasilk Shea + Mango cholesterol, Aubery Organic HSR ( tried it and LOVED it)
***ADD INS--i always add EVOO and honey to every DC that i do
**I also DC with heat (sit under my dryer for 20-30 mins)


Leave-ins>>
-Cantu shea butter leave-in
-Giovanni Direct Leave-in (think i like this better when it's a little diluted)

Moisturizers
-Moisture spritz (use this daily and love it!!)-->Organic AV gel, Giovanni direct leave in, ppmnt oil, rosemary oil, distilled H20...that's all!! Works like a dream

-S-curl--STAPLE (works and is so cheap!)
-AV juice/glycerin/distilled water spritz (STAPLE SPRITZ! in spring/summer)
-PROFECTIV ANTI-BREAKAGE GROWTH LOTION(finally a protein moisturizer!!)


OILS
--EVCO (STAPLE!!!)
--EVOO (STAPLE)
--Castor oil
-Grapeseed oil (use when want a lighter sealing)
--Peppermint oil (STAPLE..dilute in carrier oil for scalp massages)
--Shea Butter (great for sealing ends)
