- Hi, My name is Sydney.
I'm not really a "new" natural as in this is the first time I've been natural. I was natural throughout high school and up until about 2-3 months before I began college September 2007. But I am a new natural as in this is the first time, I'm respecting my hair for what it is and is not, consciously nurturing it and learning about its likes, dislikes and behaviors.
I made my "big chop" in October 2008, last year, on my kitchen floor. I decided that I wanted long hair again, and decided that if it was to be long it should be my natural texture, as to avoid having to get repeated touch-ups that I probably wouldn't be able to afford (especially not on an art student's budget...lol) Through research and more research I began to truly understand things my hair needed that it may have been missing out on for years. I began to understand that my hair could be beautiful whether I chose to be natural or relaxed. This time I chose natural and I thank my boyfriend for helping me to make the decision.
I'm really loving my hair. Even on it's bad days. :D Shoulder length by August anyone?
