I am growing my hair to midback maybe even beyond.
My goal is to have hair that is Bra Strap Length when braided.
I do cornrows a lot especially in the summertime. I do lots of braidouts too.

I have been transitioning since April 17 2007 (That was the date of my last relaxer). I'm getting anxious to see what my natural texture will be. I will not be doing the BC. I plan to trim as it grows.

This transition is a lot of work. I have that thick Rudy Huxtable type hair I love my hair, don't get me wrong but it takes lots of time and work. I have started COwashing once every week & a half.

UPDATE: 12/23/07 I've slacked off with the cowashing. but, I really need to get back on top of it because my hair is very dry these days. It is such a chore washing or co washing my hair. I've been thinking about whether I want to continue this transition. I'm beginning to question whether natural hair is for me.

UPDATE 3/1/08 I may end this transition. I have to think long and hard about this I'm not sure what I wish to do.

UPDATE 6/6/08 Still proceeding with the transition. I did a few aggressive trims and I am thankful to all the ladies who listen to my crap and let me complain and vent my frustrations. I love ya'll like sisters.

I have started using my first Sulfur Growth Aid
www.BeeMineProducts.com I like the mango smell The sulfur smell is barely noticeable. I have been trying to apply it to my scalp every other day but sometimes I don't get to it. I'm doing serious low manipulation right now. Cornrows constantly.

I have also started using Aloe Vera Juice diluted with water. This is very moisturizing and makes my new growth feel wonderful.
In addition I bought some Silk Amino Acids for strengthening. My hair does not like animal protein but it loves silk protein. I add one or two capfulls to my conditioners and leave ins. I have also learned the joys of Baking Soda.
I use it in various products. It makes my hair feel nice & soft.

Ladies, I've entered my 21st month of this transition. YAY Me!
I don't have those relaxer urges anymore. The back section of my hair is already completely natural just from trimming. I am still not doing a BC. I need to improve the moisture level during these winter months. I haven't measured my new growth but I don't think I get the full 6 inches a year although the Bee Mine serum helps me get close to it. I've been using that since July 2008 but I should be more consistent with it.

I did my BC exactly 2 years after my last relaxer.

My hair advice - Put your hair away. This works for me because my hubby loves the results. He does not complain about me keeping my hair wrapped up in my scarf when I'm home but he does not like buns. Just not a cute style from his point of view. I find that daily activities cause hair to rub up against stuff that is bad for it. like the couch or the chair or my shirt/coat whatever. So I usually keep my hair tied up when I'm home. It will help you grow.
