I started my initial transition in October of 2003. I decided to stop relaxing my hair because I wanted to get color, and although my hair was healthy, my (then) stylist warned me that my hair wouldn't do well with both. During that transition, I had my hair pressed weekly for about a year and a half. It was during that time that a friend of mine introduced me to Fotki, where I got all kinds if style and product recommendations.
I went to Miss Jessie's salon for an angle and balance cut in September of 2006. From then on, I just alternated between curly and pressed hair.
Fast forward to the summer of 2008 when I developed seborrheic dermatitis. I went to a dermatologist, who prescribed Ketoconzanole to help treat my scalp. The Ketoconzanole RUINED my curls. I mean, I had about an inch or so of curls, and the rest was permanently straight. I transitioned for 9 months, by alternating between pressing and doing twist-sets. I had my BC done on July 2, 2009. I'm just enjoying the journey now!
