Hi Everybody,
I did my Big Chop, August 2002, due to hair breakage, stunt growth, dryness and aggravation of dealing with an unhealthy head of hair. I got tired of perming my hair and burning my scalp, with that creamy crack. So, I decided to free myself, from all that misery. Since, I've done that, my hair and I have never felt better. I've been through trial and error, throughout my journey. I actually, cut my hair, myself, up to my ears, in September 2007, due to mistakes and severe hair breakage in the back of my head. Once, I did that chop, I vowed to take the best care of my hair, possible and since then, I've seen some amazing results.

In my album, you will see photos of my different styles, hair color and hair products. I have to admit ladies, that, I'm from the "Old School," and I don't make my own products. My products are store bought, simple and works for "Me."

I decided, in December 2010, since, I'm doing a great job of taking care of my hair, I'm going to challenge myself, to grow it "WAIST LENGTH!" I am inspired from other Naptural women, who grew their hair, that length. They are proof, that, afro hair can grow long!

MY HAIR REGIMEN
Cold Months Regimene/I like to use heavy products in the cold months:

1.Shampoo, every 3 weeks with Motions Shampoo. Update: 11/7/11 I use my Shea Moisture Retention Shampoo to shampoo and my Motions Shampoo to Clarify, once, I see alot of product buildup. Less drying, this way.
2.Deep Condition, every 3 weeks with Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque, from root to tip.
3.Hot oiled with Jojoba Oil, every 3 weeks.
4.Moisturize with Marc's Lano Lusture, (thick lanolin moisturizer), sealed with Indian Hemp Oil.
5.Twist or braid hair, to air dry or sit under my hooded dryer.
6.Style the next day and leave in, that style, for 3 weeks. Note: I wear wigs most of the winter.
7.Moisturized and sealed everyday with, Motions Lotion or Care Free Curl Moisturizer, and Indian Hemp Oil.

Warm Months Regimen/I like to use light products in the warm months:

1.Shampoo once a week or every two weeks
2.I deep condition, use after-shampoo conditioner or use leave-in conditioner, according to mood/purpose, after each shampoo.
3.Hot oil treatment once a month.
4.Air dry hair or sit under hooded dryer.
5.Moisturize and seal every 2-3 days or as needed..
6.Braid or twist hair for a protective style.

Note:I blow dry, flat iron and trim my hair every six months and wear protective styles, all the time. I protein treat my hair, when, I feel like it, which is, about, every two months or so. I deep condition, every shampoo and sometimes, I will sit under the hair dryer.

UPDATE 12/17/12: I'M TRIMMING MY HAIR, EVERY 9 MONTHS, INSTEAD OF, EVERY 6. I DON'T SUPPOSE, TO DO ANY TRIMMING, DUE TO, THE "IT'S ALL MINE NATURAL HAIR CHALLENGE (JUNE) 2014." I CAN'T STAND LOOKING AT SPLIT ENDS, SO, I WILL TRIM, BUT, NOT SO OFTEN. MAYBE, ONE MORE TIME, NEXT YEAR, THEN, NO MORE, AFTER THAT:)

UPDATE 7/21/12: I WILL NO LONGER COLOR MY HAIR, UNTIL, I REACH MY GOAL OF WAIST LENGTH!

I color my hair twice a year. The first 6 months, I color all my hair, from root to tip. The second 6 months, I color my roots, only. So, in other words, I only color the ends of my hair, once a year. I don't use a booster/bleach to lighten the color and I put a plastic cap on my head, so, that, my hair can lighten up from the natural heat, coming from my head. Update: 11/7/11 Will color my ends, as needed, instead of a set time.

MY HAIR LOVES MY NEW HAIR REGIMEN! Before now, I NEVER had a hair care regimen. I'm glad, I do, now, because, I SEE AMAZING RESULTS!
