- The Gollaher Family of Boise, Idaho is descended from an early emigrant (about 1700 or earlier) to America from the O'Gallchobhair clann (O'Gallagher) of Ireland. Moving from the Philadelphia region south to North Carolina, then Georgia, on to "Boone's land" (Kentucky) and up into Illinois in the early 1800s, most of the family joined the new and upstart "Mormon" church and joined the "saints" in Missouri and Nauvoo, Illinois by the mid 1800s.
After the "saints" were driven from their homes in 1842 by intolerant religious mobs, the Gollaher's joined one of the earliest Mormon pioneer companies to establish the "Mormon Trail" to the Salt Lake valley in the Rockie Mountains. Mormon prophet Brigham Young sent us with other families to establish the town of Tooele south of Salt Lake City, where we lived for several generations.
My father moved our family from Salt Lake City to Boise, Idaho in 1965, where most of us have lived since then. - General Information
