I refuse to believe that I cannot grow my hair past my shoulders. I’ve even had someone very close to me tell me that my hair goal of armpit length is unrealistic for me. I’m on a journey to prove him wrong and more importantly prove myself right.

I began my hair growth journey in May of 2004, and even though I’ve had major setbacks, mainly due to alopecia, I refuse to give up or give in. My hair is a 4a/b, and I only add ‘a’ and ‘b’ because I cannot figure out the difference between the two, but I know for sure that my hair is as coarse as it comes.

I’m not one to take many pictures, but I will supply what I have and do better at adding more in order to track my progress better.

My regimen:

Currently, I am protective styling with lace front wigs. I’ve been wearing wigs nonstop since June 8, 2007. Unfortunately, I suffer from alopecia and my hair is practically bald about 2 inches around the entire perimeter. *sigh* But I’m trying to grow out what God has blessed me with to bra-strap length or longer. Shucks, I’ll take armpit length.

Here’s what I’m doing presently….
• Shampoo (Shakaikai shampoo bar or Cream of Nature shampoo )
• Deep Condition with Nexuss Humectress
• Moisturize with S-curl Activator (in the blue and white bottle)
• Seal in moisture (Alma, Vatika, castor, and EVOO oils)
• Light protein when needed (Aphogee 2 min reconstructor)
• Heavy protein every 8-10 weeks (Redken Extreme Fuel Reconstructor)
• Relax every 3-4 months

As I stated earlier, my temples and nape are severely damaged, so I’m now adding Mega-Tek into my regimen.
