My Regimen: (Updated 8/04/2010)

-I follow a low-manipulation regimen which I truly believe helps me retain the most length. I try not to comb my hair much, finger comb as much as possible and when I do comb it's with a very wide tooth seamless comb.

- I try to use direct heat as less as possible if at all. I use it maybe a few times a year and I feel that the less direct heat I use the healthier my hair and the longer it grows. This has been the most important thing to me for hair growth.

Now, my regimen is simple but it varies depending on how I wear my hair. I will write a detailed regimen of my hair in it's natural state and when it's roller set or flat ironed. I wear my hair straight or in braid-outs in the fall/winter and curly in the spring/summer.

NATURAL HAIR REGIMEN; (wash n' go's, braid-outs, twist-outs)

-Shampoo once a week, no co-washing in-between. I use any kind of shampoo that I have.

- I try to deep condition with each wash (once a week deep condition). I use various conditioners; Lekair Cholesterol Plus, Hollywood Beauty Olive Oil Cholesterol, Yes To Carrots Mud Mask, Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Deep Conditioner. After applied I sit under the dryer for 15-20 minutes.

-Detangle only on wash day with a wide tooth seamless comb (Hercules Sagemann). I'm only using seamless combs now because the seams in regular combs can wear and tear the hair causing splits and breakage. I have enough splits already, lol.

- At night I preserve my wash n' go's with a LocSoc.....this is how I get my wng's to last 6-7 days. Also to preserve my curls I have learned not to touch them....no applying moisturizers or spraying with water. Only a light application of EVOO once or twice during the week. This has made the world of difference with preserving my curls! I wish I had learned this long ago. For braid/twist-outs I re-braid or twist at night after moisturizing and sealing, cover with satin scarf.

STRAIGHT HAIR REGIMEN; (Roller set, silk wraps, flat ironed)

-Shampoo every 2 to 2 1/2 weeks, sometimes 3 if I'm lucky.

-Deep condition maybe twice a month if I'm good (I really slack with this in the cooler months.)

-Moisturize and seal once or twice a week (I'm really light with products when my hair is straight because I don't want it weighed down.)

-At night to preserve the style I alternate between wrapping my hair the regular way and doing a cross wrap and cover with a silk scarf.

-Clarify twice a month using Suave Clarifying Shampoo.

-Protein treatments once a month using Motions CPR or Nexxus Emergenceel. Follow up with deep conditioner under the dryer.

-Trims/dustings- no schedule, just whenever I see splits or just want to even things up which ends up being about once every 4-5 months. I can get kinda scissor happy. My hair thrives when it's frequently dusted. Don't hold on to those damaged ends ladies.....trust me they will only hold you back!
