I started my first journey to Nappism way back in Spring 2003 , but without the proper knowledge of how to maintain the glorious thick, "I don't lay down for nobody" fro I wrapped it under a headscarf until I could tame that wild side. However the hair fought back and won. So in the Spring of 2004 I tried it again and slowly began to cut away at those shameful ends, and embraced my uncontrollable thick mane. During this time I began lusting admiring all things loced. After a few months I knew this is what I wanted.

In Fall of 2005 I began my loc journey. I was just too excited. I started with 2 strand extentions because I felt my face was too round for the really short look. For me this turned out to be the best, in the 1st 3 monthes I budded and had unremoveable when washed locs. By the middle of month 4 my locs were just about cheek length. By month 7 they dusting my neck. At my anniversary they hung "a very little" pass my shoulder but nonetheless they were pass my shoulder.

I had recently moved and then the itch began to do something different .So I stopped retwisting my roots for about 2 or 3 monthes and one night while my fiance watched TV, I quietly cut off a section of locs from the back. Now in shock I walked back to my honey with my locs in my hand and tears in my eyes and handed him the locs. He flipped asking me what had I done to myself, then stated that we should finish what I started. By the end, I felt sad, confused and then excited.

I shampooed, conditioned, gelled then reshampooed and conditioned then went to sleep with my locs ponytail in my hand.
By the next morning I was excited to see what all I could do.and thus my new nappy journey began. I've been on this journey since October of 2006 and have come to love my nappy, coily and sometimes unpredictable fro.
