I have been natural for ten years. TEN YEARS! I have been around since the beginning of Nappturality. The growth of the "natural" movement is astounding. Although I consider myself to be knowledgeable regarding natural hair and it's care; I have learned so much and have been inspired in many ways by all of you beautiful women.

We are wonderfully and beautifully created by our father in heaven Jesus Christ. It is great to see that you all have accepted the hair that we have been blessed with. It is admired and imitated around the world. As we all know...no two naturals are the same.

I know that you all are wondering why the TWA for so long. I was content with being natural however I still hadn't accepted my hair in rare form. A short natural is very socially acceptable while a fro is considered unkempt or rebellious...unattractive even. My recent decision to grow my hair out is a very spiritual one. My husband has encouraged me and this is something that we are doing together. I am a wealth of knowledge and it is finally time for me to put my money where my mouth is. I have received both negative and postive stares and comments as a result of my new found fro. Despite the sacrifice my husband and I have made to our nation; we have come to learn that freedom isn't free. I am free to be the ME that you all will see in these photos. The way I'm made.

I look forward to being a source of encouragement for someone as well as being encouraged myself. This is my second time growing out but this time I am more conscious of my decision. Whenever I would get the blank stares I would resort to my infamous TWA. I need all the information that you all have to offer. You are all so beautiful to me in every shade of brown and every type of nap. Dee Coily I can't say enough about you. Ten years in the game and you are still as strong as ever in this movement.

Von, my husband...you have always embraced my natural beauty. You have given me the courage I need to wear a fro as large as the mane on a lion. You often refer to me as your "crown". I love you and thank you for taking this journey with me. I will miss our Saturday morning trips to the barber.

We all reflect the image of our creator...and the God I serve does not make mistakes but has created us perfect. Our hair is our glory.
