I have always LOVED hair, so you can imagine my distress when I began losing my hair about 6 years ago. After the birth of my 3rd child my hair began falling out, this did not happen with my other 2 kids. What did I decide to do?? Weave it up, like an idiot, why did my hairdresser go along with me??? I weaved on and off for the next 3.5 years (mostly on, lol).During this time I went to the Dermatologists and was diagnosed with genetic hair loss. In May 2007 I took the weave out to have a follow up with the dermatologist, what I found was hair that was even more damaged than when I first started with the weave. What began as a 2 week rest period before the next weave finished with some serious contemplation, and I decided that I would take matters into my own hands and start dealing with my own hair. I really am "Selfstyled"- I do EVERYTHING myself, no salons ever.

My Hair Profile: My hair is naturally coarse, and the actual strands are quite thick and strong and resilient. My hair is low in porosity, which means that my cuticles are closed really really tight, and my hair will never be processed bone straight with a relaxer.I have one patch in the back of my head that is extremely resistant to relaxers. Coarse hair and all, I stick with Regular strength relaxers. My hair is texlaxed but will straighten nicely with a roller set or flat iron. My hair only appears thin because I have low density.

My Regimen

I wash and Deep Condition 2x/wk. I DC on dry hair with my Hair Therapy Wrap.
I use CON or Hair One to cleanse my hair.
DC's way to many to list:Aussie 3 min. Aubrey's HSR,SE Moisture Treatment, Silicon Mix
I clarify monthly with Nexus Aloe Rid.
My Leave in is Redken Smooth down cream. I air dry in a pony or 2 low buns.

I moisturize 1-2 times daily with Abba Kukui Nut body cream, and seal with oil at least once daily. I seal with Argan Oil or JBCO.

I always tie my hair up with a silk scarf at night for bed.

I don't brush and mostly finger comb. I will do a good detangle with a shower comb like twice a week.

I use Color Showers as a light protein treatment every 3 weeks

I Self Relax with Mizani Rhelaxer- Reg Strength every 11 weeks

I protective style all the time with buns, french, braids or half wigs.

Apply leave ins, make 2 loose buns with satin scrunchies, and sit under the dryer with a silk scarf for 30 min, and airdry the rest of the way.

Phony Pony/Bun
