- My hair has been chemically altered for as far back as I can remember starting with the Gheri Curl around or about the fourth grade. Anyway, for many years I have been a weave wearing queen. Between the relaxers and the weaves my hair was terribly damaged. Rarely did I go without weaving my hair. Finally, I reached the point were enough was enough by November 2007 I was for the first time in about 5 years weave free. I stopped for two reasons at that time. For starters it had become just too expensive to keep it going and secondly I wanted to grow out my own hair. I wanted to know what it would feel like to be able to run my fingers through my hair an actually feel my own scap! I also wanted people to except the real me and not the me that I had paid to be.. (Know what I mean?) As time went on I was dedicated to achieving a healthier head of hair. I can honestly say that from were I began my hair is now much healthier but it is not at its full potential. I have been doing alot of research in the past few weeks trying to educate myself on how to achieve the results that I am looking for. I have been following both DPrincess28 and scandalousbeauty hair tutorials on www.youtube.com (As well as some hair blogs on www.blogspot.com www.nappturality.com , and www.blackhairmedia.com ) Both ladies as well as a few others have inspired me to take my hair journey to the next level. I am so excited and can not wait, but I know how the old saying goes... Patience is a virtue. I realise that it will take time but in the meanwhile I will periodically update my progress here. I do have relaxed hair at the moment (04/19/2009) and I am a long way away from the BC as my last relaxer was March 15, 2009. I will continue with my hair regimens as I prep my hair for the BC and become totally and undeniably free!!!
