- I had been natural only 6 years (LMAO) when I first got a perm. Ironically, the stylist's name was "Lucky". Lucky my ass....Anyways I contemplated going natural in high school and didn't consider it seriously until my freshman year of college. After doing a few braidouts, I went ahead and decided to get my last relaxer on August 9,2005.
I made my Fotki after my Transitioning Mentor Jessica told me it would be a good idea to document my journey that way. So when I become 100% natural, I figured that my Fotki could probably help another transitioner out the way a lot of Nappy fotkis helped me.:-D
On April 15,2006, a few days after my 20th birthday, I decided to BC. Why not? HOWEVER, I had some issues because I had cornrows in my hair for 5 weeks straight and decided to take them out two days before my BC.Yea, didn't condition enough.My hair LOOKED good, but it felt hard and crunchy. Or maybe that was the blow out, either way I wasnt feeling it. I was so unhappy!!!I felt like I had wasted all of my time and energy.ALSO, the stylist cut a little more than she needed to to make it even(that really pissed me off because I don't know if my sides are naturally short,or because of her cutting it). I really did NOT care whether it was even or not.I just wanted to show my hair in its all natural glory.lol Once I conditioned and put it in a braidout the next day, I felt my old texture coming back.*grins*
My hair type is....well I dont really like to classify by Andre's (it would be like....3c/mostly 4a) SO I follow LOIS. BUT when asked by someone, I just said "A head full of curls(whether they are loose or tight)". I love it!Soft curly hair!Im always in class or on campus pulling out my curls, some of em stick out like springs in an old mattress.*dies laughing*
So far I think I'm done adjusting to having 100% natural hair.I can't wait for it to grow out so I can do more styles!!!! I LOVE IT!WOOOOO! - General Information
