I think I have 3b/3c type hair. I recently had to make changes to my regimen because as of August 16, 2008, my hair is relaxed. I was natural for a little more than 3 years and I had 2 BCs: January 15, 2005 and April 27, 2007. When I was natural in late 2006 and early 2007, I had gained a lot of length (maybe because of the Prenatal Vitamins I was taking during my pregnancy) so I started flat ironing my hair everyday, sometimes 2 times a day. I never used moisturizer, just Wonder 8 hair oil, Blue Magic grease, and IC Frizz Buster. My beautiful hair suffered so I chopped it all off again in April. A few months before my BC, I stumbled upon Cathy Howse's website and I have been committed ever since my 2nd BC. I have also learned wonderful ways to take care of my hair through Black Hair Media, Long Hair Care Forum, and Healthy Textures. As you go through my pictures and read my regimen please feel free to offer advice.

First relaxer: August 16, 2008
Last retouch: November 16, 2008 - I also did a henna gloss (13 weeks post)
Next retouch: February 8, 2009 - This date is 12 weeks post and I will not retouch before then. My goal, however, is to stretch to 6 months post which means I wouldn't retouch until May 3, 2009. I should gain a solid 3 inches by then.

My Regimen:

Take vitamins daily: Women’s Ultra Mega Multivitamin (Take 2)
GNC Hair, Skin, & Nails (Take 2)
MSM 1000

Drink LOTS OF WATER - At least 1.5 - 3 liters per day

Sleep at least 8 hours a night. Exercise daily for at least 30 minutes

Wash hair every 3-4 days: Crème of Nature Detangling & Conditioning Shampoo

Use Clarifying Shampoo: Vo5 after swimming or before Aphogee 2-Step Protein Treatment which I do every 6 weeks or whenever I feel like I need it.

Deep condition after every wash (alternate each wash b/w UBH for 30 mins & ORS for 15 mins)
Mild/Instant Conditioner for after using UBH to soften hair

Apply water-based moisturizer after every deep condition, as well as 2x daily
Moisturizer - UBH Crème Moisturizer

Apply oil lightly to seal moisture
Virgin Coconut Oil - use daily
Wild Growth Hair Oil (WGHO) - use only on wash days

Apply IC Frizz Buster Anti-Frizz Serum after oil

Apply Shapley’s Original M-T-G mixed with peppermint oil and WGHO
to the scalp after every wash, MOISTURIZE FIRST & AFTER!!!

Roller-set and air dry. Either saran-wrap or sleep with rollers overnight. Next day if I don't saran-wrap I moisturize, seal with coconut oil, apply Bhringaraj Oil and IC Heat Protector Straightening Serum and flat iron with the Steam Straightener.

Nightly moisturize, seal with oil, and put 4-5 rollers in a mohawk style set. Wrap silk scarf around hair and then a doo-rag to prevent it from coming off.

***Update: As of November 3, 2008 I wear my hair out in a banana clip everyday. I do not use wigs anymore because my hair has passed shoulder length.***

Protein Treatments every 6 weeks -
ApHogee 2-Step Protein or Keratin 2-Minute Reconstructor (Alternate one every 3 weeks. Protein treatment the last wash before relaxer)

Henna Gloss once a month and following a retouch. Look in Journal for recipe.

Retouch hair at least once every 3 months (stretch to 12 weeks or more) - ORS Olive Oil No Lye Relaxer
