Just a little history: For most of my 36yrs, I have been relaxed or pressed. I have no remembrance of my natural texture as a child.

I decided to go natural for a few reasons:
1. I had a scalp condition called "seborrhea" that's similar to eczema & psoriasis. Since I've stopped relaxing, I haven't had so much as an itch or flake, let alone a flare up.
2. I actually felt very disconnected from my hair-it felt foreign. It felt so silky one day that it pissed me off cuz it didn't feel like my hair-like it shouldn't have been on my head. That is what tipped me over the edge. That was mid May '06.
3. I began to really admire kinky/curly natural hair. I became impressed by women who wore their natural hair.

I thought I'd transition for a while, but after 3 months, my patience with 2 textures was gone, so I did the BC early August '06 & I don't regret it at all. I went from long, to short in a matter of minutes & I advise it to anyone who'll listen. It is liberating.

I kinda feel bad for all my friends & relatives who feel they can't live without being relaxed. It's sad when you can't see the beauty in what's yours & too many black women can't see the beauty in the hair God gave them in it's original form. Some are holding on to 3 strands of hair that could at least look like 6 if they'd stop processing it.
