My Hair Story

I got my first relaxer at age 11. About a year later I didn't want relaxed hair anymore so I just stopped getting them and started getting my hair pressed again. About a year later I started relaxing again until my Freshman year in college. November 1999 was my last relaxer. Then I wore braids for about 6 months then BC'd. I continued to wear braids off and on for about 6 years. I damaged my hair some because I was learning to press my own hair and burned some of it out.

I stopped going to stylists in 1999 and have done everything myself. I do my own cuts, trims, cornrows, micros, twists, relaxers, etc.

I found 3 hair boards that I liked in 2003. That's when I began my healthy hair journey. Naturallycurly.com, Nappturality.com, and Longhaircareforum.com have been a blessing for me. My hair grew to about brastrap length before i decided to relax again in December 2006. I texturized/texlaxed and I loved it. I grew my hair to just grazing waistlength. But I started getting some breakage and thinning after accidently over processing & protein overload. I went back to my natural hair again after transitioning for 19 months to regain my thickness. Now that my hair is healthy & thick again I think I will be going back to relaxers around the summer of 2011. I like natural hair, but I just prefer my hair texlaxed.
