Hello All!!
I am new to Fotki. I have been obsessed with the natural hair pages of fotki, so I decided to start my own. I decided to take the natural journey in April 2006 and I haven't looked back since. I've come to know and discover myself more since I've been natural. Follow me on my road to self-discovery.

This was something I wrote for my writing class. We could only use one syllable words. It was well received:

“Don’t do it”, they would scream. They urged me not to. “Why?” they would ask. It’s time I would say. No more perms, burns or tight dos. My hair had been cut in the past and had since grown so long, but it was not the gift HE gave me. It was not my own. I want to be free, back to my roots.

I walked in on a brisk, spring day. No big deal, I thought, but in the back of my mind I knew it was. I’ll just sit in the chair and close my eyes. First there was a big chop: Locs I’ve had for years, fell from my crown to the floor. Then there were a few snips here and there. Then it was shaped. My eyes did not want to look at first, I was too scared. I took a peep at my new look and was not sure what to think. What a sight to see the hair God gave me. It would take some time.

Marsha walked out and a new girl came forth. As the breeze graced my neck, it was one of the first times there was no hair to shield the wind. That’s when I felt it; a smile from God. The tears would soon start to flow. I felt free. Free!
