Well lets see, where shall I begin.

New Growth,

Going natural was not the something I ever thought I'd do. After a life changing event and I felt like Bernie in "waiting to exhale," I just wanted to chop it all off!! My hair has always been healthy and long. In the past when I'd get bored with it, I'd color or cut/both it when I felt edgy or trend setting. My new hair is still feels "weird" to the touch. I guess I'm still getting accustomed to it. Let me tell you, this wasn't the easiest process either. My mother and I had it out a FEW times over my hair. I finally got through to her and that's much better now. Not to mention all the hoopla I recieved from fam/friends. OVERALL everyone has been shocked but supportive. I was most concerned about my appearence. Would ppl stereotype me, "neo soul,super spiritual, afrocentric, black activist, will men still be as attracted to me..etc etc" Come to find out ppl don't seem to be bothered by my hair at all. From professional interviews, to a night at the club I feel very accepted. Funny thing is, non black guys love it, the brothas are/seem really into or not all. I won't go back to the creamy crack but I will occasionally straighten my hair. I miss my hair length at times. As for now, I'm doing my best to accept "me" and my "natural" beauty.
