My First Semi-Blowout...14.5 Month Mini Update!

Hello, my name is Tawanda and I have an adorable son named Elijah who is 7 yo. and a very intelligent and cute husband named Anthony (married for almost 3 years!). I graduated in 2006 with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and I am heavily involved in volunteering. I graduated May 09 with a M.A. in Health Education & Promotion with a minor Health Policy. But I start back in August at the University of Tennessee (Memphis) for a Doctor of Nursing Practice (FNP) degree. What can I say I enjoy learning.

I also love to travel any chance I get and will take full advantage this summer, hopefully I'll get to leave the country again. I love languages and learning about other cultures/religions. I'm really getting into politics and I'm in love African/African-American culture/life!!! I'm currently trying my best to learn French and some Arabic! My goal is to continue to grow as a human being, help God's people, and help heal the world! I hope to travel alot in the future. And my new goal is to learn about "my" NATURAL hair and how to keep it healthy!!!

I won a very beautiful (and expensive) CHI Flat Iron that I have yet to use but I will after my 1 Year Natural Anniversary! I'm so proud of the other ladies who entered the challenge and I'm proud of myself for sticking with it for 6 months. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE NATURAL HAIR, HAIR CARE, AND GROWTH!!!

Month 1 Goals (Sept. 08-Oct. 08): Learn about my natural hair/buy products/promote growth/use natural and homemade products (always learning :~) **DONE**

Month 2 Goals (Oct. 08-Nov. 08): Find ways to better moisturize hair/start wearing headbands/find more ways to promote growth/start taking vitamins/drink more H2O!/buy atleast 2-3 new products/make a YouTube video of my journey! **DONE** (~UPDATE: I completed my YT videos and posted on Dec. 24th...yay me!!!

Month 3 Goals (Nov. 08-Dec. 08): Purchase & review KCCC, Qhemet Biologicals products (they are re-stocking)/ Order new hair products (Hydratherma Naturals)Try new hairstyles/Continue to grow! **DONE**

Month 4 Goals (Dec. 08-Jan. 09): Get hair done at a certified natural hair salon/Get my first official twists and twist-out. Restock all essential hair products. Continue taking vitamins everyday/ Follow my hair care regimen religiously/Grow 1/2 to 1 inch of hair this month!!! **DONE** (did not go to natural hair salon or get twists and had minimal growth)

Month 5 Goals (Jan. 09-Feb. 09): Grow 1/2 to 1 inch of hair/Try the Ayurvedic or Ayurveda hair treatments/try Indian powders and oils/try new products/Stick to hair care regimen/continue to take vitamins/eat healthier. **DONE** (I lacked off on the vitamins and need to eat better)

Month 6 Goals (Feb. 09-Mar. 09): Grow 1/4 to 1/2 inch of hair/Continue with my current regimen/Try new skin care regimen/continue to take vitamins/eat healthier/Get a protective style. **DONE** (I did not stick to taking my vitamins and did not get a protective hairstyle but I did get a trim for split-ends but I didn't have many)

Month 7 Goals (Mar. 09-Apr. 09): Grow 1/4 to 1/2 inch of hair/Start new hair care regimen/Continue with new skin care routine/ TAKE MY VITAMINS!!!/Eat healthy/protect my ends/Co-wash daily to every other day/do a protein treatment/Challenge myself to the "conditioner only" method for a week. **DONE** (I don't think my hair grew as much this month but who knows, I don't really measure it anyway...lol. Had some moisture issues but the conditioner only method helped to remedy that. I did not take my vitamins b/c I was lazy about it, but I will do better in this next month!)

Month 8 Goals (Apr. 09-May 09): Grow 1/4 to 1/2 inch of hair/Continue with current hair regimen/get hair done in Kinky Twist for graduation (this will also be my protective style for the next month and half/Exercise more/Drink more H2O/Post update video to YouTube/Continue with growth oil challenge/Continue with TI's hair challenge. **DONE** (I got my hair done in 3 Layer Cornrows instead of Kinky Twist for graduation & I still need to do a YT update video)

Month 9 Goals (May 09-June 09): Grow 1/4 to 1/2 inch of hair/Develop & start new hair care regimen/Get hair done by natural hair stylist again/Exercise more/Drink more H2O/Post update video to YouTube/Continue with growth oil challenge (2-3x/wk.)/Continue with TI's hair challenge. **DONE** (I did not stick to growth oil challenge and no YT vid yet). T.I.'s Hair Challenge ended!

Month 10 Goals (June 09-July 09): Grow 1/4 to 1/2 inch of hair/Continue with regimen and doing things that impact my hair in positive manner/Post update video to YouTube. **DONE** (did not post YT vid)

Month 11 Goals (July 09-Aug. 09): Grow 1/4 to 1/2 inches of hair/Continue with my new regimen/Wash hair everyday or every other day/start my own hair challenge. **DONE** (started a hair challenge on Facebook for N.C. naturals...yay!). **DONE**

Month 12 Goals (Aug. 09-Sept. 09): I'll finally be able to celebrate my 1 YEAR NAPPIVERSARY! I have awaited this so long and my main goal at this point will be to remain natural for the rest of my life. I have met the majority of my hair goals for this year and I just want to keep growing (hair and personal growth)...See ya and God Bless!
