CHILLIWACK, B.C. (CP) - One person was killed and 15 injured in a chain-reaction of car crashes on the mountainous Coquihalla Highway which police believe was caused by a tractor trailer dripping diesel. The leaking truck allegedly left the highway slick with diesel fuel and sent two cars colliding into each other in a tunnel on B.C.'s main highway to the Interior. A semi jacknifed behind those two cars, said Const. Steve Hiscoe, a spokesman for the Upper Fraser Valley Regional RCMP Detachment. Seven cars piled up trying to avoid the semi as it spun out at around 1 p.m. Friday, as many people were beginning to travel on this Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The tractor trailer fuel tanker spread diesel over 100 kilometres of highway, heading toward the Lower Mainland.

What isn't mentioned here, is the fact that Rob did bring that tractor trailer to a halt. At that point he immediately reached for his first aid kit and jumped from his rig to give assistance to the people in the cars that crashed in front of him. While crossing in front of his own truck, it was struck from behind and in turn took Rob's life.
This was the kind of man that he was and anyone who ever met him, will surely miss him. - General Information
