| | - Benjamin Wey
- Since he was a child, Benjamin Wey has loved buildings and the process of building. He used to spend hours every day building elaborate earthen structures for his toys. Through several apprenticeships, Benjamin Wey developed a lasting love for design and architecture and was able to learn basic carpentry, later using it as a springboard to become a construction foreman. While studying for his Civil Engineering BA, Benjamin Wey worked for a variety of different companies with the intention of gaining experience for the day he would branch off and build his own construction consulting firm.
After graduating with his Master’s, Benjamin Wey began working for his future father-in-law at Donofrio Construction in Los Angeles. Wey worked for him as a Construction Foreman for three years, and during that time, Benjamin Wey married his wife Lorraine and relocated to San Francisco to manage the company’s building projects up North. In 2005, he felt prepared to go out on his own and founded A1 Construction Consulting. As the owner and cheif consultant of A1, Benjamin Wey is able to do the work he has dreamed of doing since he was in college. He consults on both building design and construction, as well as drafts buildings as a contract architect. He has never experienced a career this rewarding, and he hopes to remain in this business for years to come.
Lorraine and Benjamin Wey currently live in the South Bay with their three children, Charlotte, Daniel, and Annie, where they are involved in countless community and human development projects. He and his wife are both ardent sponsors of art and cultural events and spend much of their free time attending modern art exhibits and music and cultural festivals in their area. When he is not busy designing or consulting on his latest project, Benjamin Wey enjoys blogging about architecture and playing games with his kids. He is also an infrequent golfer and an enthusiastic traveler. Benjamin Wey loves nothing more than traveling to different cities and countries, observing their fine architecture and replicating it in his own work. His fervent devotion and fondness for striking, landmark buildings is evident in every design he creates, and someday, he hopes to join the ranks of the world’s most celebrated architects and inspire some budding young architect to achieve his/her dreams. - General Information
