*****I detangle throughly on wash day;first in shower w/wide tooth comb, then rat tail comb when rollersetting. <s>Wrap w/wide tooth comb.I don't use brushes at all. I don't process relaxer fully. I air-dry most of the time. I only use direct heat to flat-iron roots after a rollerset. I don't use iron on length of hair. Sometimes I do the Saran wrap if I don't want curls. I rarely blow-dry! Emergency purposes only.********
that's about it, pretty simple,to me! lol
****June '08*****relaxed after a 16 week stretch using mizani butter blends...it's an ok relaxer..it processes really quick, but not bone straight...it left my hair dry though...idk...maybe i'll go back to motions... no growth since last relaxe...too much manipulation!! my regimen for the rest of the year is washing and DC'ing once a week...and BUNNING for the entire week!! i might do a braid out for the week end though..
****March 04 '08 update** I did it...i relaxed...don't ask why..lol..i just woke up and asked my mom to do it(she was happy as hell)...already i don't like it..i feel so...bald...i miss the poof my natural hair gave me...idk....i'll be back though...i might not have any updates for awhile... thanks to all of the women who have inspired me with their kind words of encouragement...all comments are greatly appreciated! i am terribly sorry that i have not responded to all...i do appreciate any type of feedback..thanks ladies! to all of the transitioners...don't give up...unless you are absolutely sure!good luck!!
**Feb. 14 update** I am thnking of relaxing...possibly in june...i really don't want to...but i really want to see my length...maybe i can straighten when i want to wear it completely straight?? i really really love my naturl hair...My hair seems to be healthy, iam tired of putting this blk blk rinse in my hairevery 2 weeks...maybe i'll just dye it blk...i'm scared though...regimen is pretty much the same....i have been co-washing daily though...if not..every 2 days...and i don't comb my hair at all....maybe once every 2 weeks..lol...i know, i'm bad...so far so good...to relax or not?? ya'll pray for me! i'm such a length whore!..lol
**As of August 3, 2007(last relaxer), I am transitioning** I don't like thin flat hair(my hair)...I've always loooved natural hair, but was too afraid to go for it b/c I've never dealt w/my texture before. I'm not going to commit right away, b/c when i say i'm going to do something(w/my hair) i rarely see it throguh..I am just going to not relax for aslong as i can, and go from there. Any tips, advice, etc. from naturals and transitioners is more than welcomed!!
** I just cut about 1.5" of hair off(9/11/07)...i really needed too** ** My hair is shedding like crazy and i have dandruff really bad. I've had it for approx. 6 yrs. i am sooo tired of it. Anywho, to fix it I read that thyme stops dandruff. And we all know that garlic is good for shedding. So i got some fresh thyme(from the bahamas) and garlic(i beat it w/a mallet), boiled both together in water, strained it and placed it in the fridge. I then boiled the leftovers again. i use this concoction on my scalp twice a week on co-wash days. hopefully it will work..We shall see!!**
********************************************************************************* I am on a hair mission! i started my mission about 8 months(Jan. '07) ago. Before then, i'd relax my hair every 6/8 weeks, color whenever i felt like it. My hair was never in "bad" shape, until I colored it too close to a relaxer; since then all hell broke loose. I was able to literally pull out hair while it was wet. it was then that i decided to cut about 2/3 inches off. since then, I have been a member of BHM. From there, I have learned to co-wash religiously. Co-washing has worked wonders for my hair! I am an avid gym-goer(not in the last few months), so co-washing is a must. I co-wash w/any moisturizing conditioner, and add EVOO & castor oil. I never go to bed w/o my satin scarf! NEVER! I also sleep on a satin pillowcase for added protection. I started relaxing my hair every 3/4 months. This has helped my hair tremendously. I am still on the thin side though, hopefully this will get better.
