Founded April 14, 2003, the Calgary Outdoor Club (COC) currently has over 5000 members, primarily Calgary residents. The COC is a volunteer-run organization for adults, featuring adventure sports (mostly non-competitive), social events and travel excursions in and around the Calgary area. The COC's mission is to provide our members with fun experiences, the opportunity to network, and the ability to learn about and participate in local adventure sports. Membership is free, although member support, in the form of both time and monetary donations, is solicited to keep the club running.

The COC hosts a wide variety of events every year, including:

Adventure Sports - hiking, camping, backpacking, mountain biking, paddling, skiing, skating, snow shoeing, etc.

Social - socials, parties, spectator sporting events, pool (billiards), theatre and comedy evenings, etc.

Travel - trips to various parts of Canada and the U.S., and possibly beyond
