Hi, I'm a pediatric Speech Therapist and I'm on a serious mission to grow my hair healthy and strong! I haven't taken care of my hair for so many years. I just would add pieces and as a result the damage is so very severe. After reading Sistaslick's articles (see my links for more info- she is so informative!), I felt like I was living under a rock and decided to do something about my hair issues. I began on 7/15/07 and while taking inventory on the products that I was using, I was shocked to find that I had NO moisturizing anything- all of my products were protein based! So of course I became a PJ (product junkie) instantly, LOL.

My Haircare Products
Relaxer- PhytoSpecifics Index II

Protein Shampoos: AloeRid(Clarifies) or Queen Helene Garlic poo

Protein Conditioners: Organics Roots Stimulator Hair Mayo, Redken Extreme, Aphogee 2 min. Reconstructor

Moisturizing Shampoos: Creme of Nature (white bottle with green lettering)

Mosturizing Conditioners: Nexxus Humectress, KeraCare Humecto, ORS Replenishing Pak or Suave mosturiz. condition. strawberries n cream (for a quick condition)

Specialty Treatment: Aphogee Intensive Treatment (when needed) , Aveda DR mask, Salerm wHEAT gERM mASK (once a week or as needed)

Leave-In Conditioner: Neutrogena Moisture Restore Leave In, Lacio Lacio, Herbal Essence Break's over, Infusium Conditioner (If I need more protein, esp during stretching)

Water based Moisturizer: Organic Roots Stim Olive Oil Moisturizer, S-Curl mosturizer

Sealants: Wild growth Oil (WGO) or Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) , Castor Oil, Coconut Oil, Vatika Oil

Preshampoo (Prepoo): Extra Virgin Olive Oil on ends night before or 1 hour before shampooing.

******As of 1/1/08, I have started using Ayurvedic products for conditioning and sealing. First, I place alma and coconut oils on hair overnight; then I'm using Alma, henna, shakakai, bhrami and neem powders blended with Vatika and EVOO oils on dry hair and leaving for about 20 mins. I rinse and then follow with Nexxus Humectress for a DC for 45 mins. w/out heat or 20 mins. w/ heat! I'll try this 2x per week until mid April and see what results are reaped by my next relaxer and length check!

Other items:
*Vitamins: Hair Formula 37, (had awesome results in the past), MSM (3000mg), Vitalert multi- vitamins, B-125, silica
*Eat healthy meals (5 mini meals per day)
*Drink 10 C of water (2 cups with each meal)
*exercise 3-5xs for 1 hr per wk.

***My goal is to deep condition my hair with EVOO added to the con 3 times per week (modified idea from ******lexi84*******- thanxs a bunch).

Wed and Fri's Con wash

Mix Moisturizing. con with EVOO and warm in microwave. Apply to entire dry hair and cover with self-heating cap for 1 hour before rinsing and combing.
Squeeze water from hair and no towel drying.
Apply Leave-in conditioner, mostur. , and then seal ends.
Massage scalp for 5 minutes with WGO on fingertips
Twist and place plastic cap and tie down with silk scarf to dry overnight.
In the morning, take cap off, re- condition,re-moisturize and re-seal if needed, and apply 1/2 wig as protective style.

Sun/Mon Poo and Con.

Prepoo with EVOO on ends
Poo with CON mostly or protein poo once a month
***follow Wed and Fri Regimen.

Every morning and night I apply Leave-in con, mosturize, and seal.
Atempt to massage scalp every night with oiled fingertips (*****thanxs Sistaslick**********).
After sealing at night, I place a plastic bag on head and tie with silk scarf to seal in moisture as much as possible.
NO combing except when washing- I use fingers to detangle during all other times to decrease breakage.
No direct heat (except right after a relaxer to check length).
Will hide my hair with 1/2 wig or phony pony and bagging technique under (thanxs ****BreZn07 ***) until it is MBL!!!!
