Transitioning with 2 Strand Twist w/ Synthetic Hair


I decided almost immediately after my last relaxer that I would go natural. One of my best friends is natural and has been for over a year. My hair is extremely damaged. From having a baby, unforeseen trauma, stress, and adding permanent color every chance I got, I ended up with spots and severe breakage something I have never experience before.
I, like most African American women, started getting relaxers at a young age. I went from a relaxer to a jheri curl and then back to a relaxer. My biggest fear is not cutting my hair short; it’s living with the regret of not doing it sooner. But I am excited about my journey.
I have told a few people about my desire to become natural, I have received mixed reviews. The negative comments come mostly from woman who are ignorant of what it means to be completely natural or who wear their hair long and relaxed because that is what their man likes. Or who feel that having long straight hair really means something. I often use the phrase “I am not ate up with hair” because I know my hair doesn’t make me who I am.
I have a lot of goals that I want to accomplish between now and my big chop date. One is losing 22 lbs. Wish me luck on both my journeys and I will start to post photos soon and keep you updated on my progress with both.

Update: Patience is not something I was blessed with, although God has blessed me with a lot of things. I decided that I couldn't wait for the big chop. With the encouragement of my BF who is also a fellow natural and a friend/hair stylist, who is also a fellow natural sister decided to open her shop at 10:30 to give me a big chop. My photos are updated but not the best. I promise to get some better shots out there soon. I am very happy. Just trying to find what prodcuts work for me.
