Dimpalz - Braidlocs started November 09!!!

I have reached a crossroad in my journey to healthy natural hair. I was relaxed for about 5 and a half years (from my 15th birthday) purely for aesthetic reasons but I had enough of that and after realising it was too much hassle I went natural. After being natural for more than 3 years I feel like locks are the way forward. Like many I've admired them but liked my loose napps too much to really consider them, now times have changed and I'm about to being my new journey into Lockdom lol

Here's the rest of my reasons for transitioning:
I like washing my hair
I like water dripping thru my hair in the shower
I don't like shower caps
I don't like wrapping my hair
I'm tired of blowdrying and straightening just to get caught in a misty downpour
I'm tired of having to shell out to get someone to relax my hair
I'm tired of traipsing all the way there to have them do it
I miss canerows - lol I don't miss them anymore. I've renamed them PAINrows!
I want to colour my hair when I want
I want to colour to the root!
I want to be able to wash and go (even if it is only for a little while)
I don't want to always HAVE to do something with my hair

1 year goal - Grow my hair healthily to about 5 inches - hopefully 6. ~~ Update! Official 1 year figures after 1/2 inch trim: Front, crown and centre back (think of drawing a thick T on my scalp) - 5.5 inches. Nape and sides (basically the rest) - 4 - 4.5 inches.

2 year goal - Still healthy, but I'm aiming for at least 10 inches. (nb, BSL is 13 inches from my nape) ~~ Update! I don't have official 2 year figures cos I just put in extensions for 2 months and forgot to measure :S I retained about 2 inches in the past year after 2 CUTS due to damage form colouring :( but good news is at least it's healthy :D

3 year goal - No more whole head colour (I can't promise there wont be another streak), more deep conditioning and better protective styles. I want a foot of hair by June 2009! ~~ Update! Of course I don't have 12 inches of hair like I should, too much styling, not enough love, etc etc. After all that love and attention I think I'm pretty much down to first year figures :(
