Well I've reached my 2nd Nappiversary. Still natural and no plans on going back! As of December I decided to loc my hair. So far so good, im loving it! I cant wait until I am fully loc'd but thats still a while down the road. Be blessed and enjoy!

Well 4/5/07 was my 1 year Nappiversary of my chop. I cant believe its only been a year, seems like I've been natural for so long. Thank you to everyone who supported me on this site. Although you may not realize it, your comments and suggestions really helped me get through the rough spots. To my friends Qi and Kris, thank you for being my backbone and helping me to get (and to continue to get) acquainted with my hair, lol! These two gave me the strength to walk out of the door some days, when I just knew my hair was too big, or if I just felt it didnt look right. Well who knows what my 2nd year may bring. I hope you will continue to stop by and check on my updates (and yes I will be posting them, lol!)

Hi my name is Dawn and I invite you to my journey. I had my last perm around July 2005, on the advice of my hair dresser. I was one who always believed that the straighter your hair was, the better it was. How wrong was I????

As the new growth started coming in and the summer heat was getting to it, I found I couldnt keep my hands off of it. Money got a little short and my salon visits slowed down a little bit, okay a lot, lol. That was one of the best things that could have happened to me. I continued to get my hair done when I could, but mostly wore ponytails which I had to slick back with water and gel. I had waves for days.

I did not do the big chop, but decided to grow out my hair until it was as long naturally as it was when permed. Fortunately frustration got the best of me and I couldnt deal with the 2 textures anymore.

On April 5, 2006, I walked into a natural hair salon to inquire about getting twists, and told them to cut out all the perm. What a life changing day! I have had to learn to love myself, the real me, as God made me, and my God given hair all over again. Sometimes it is very hard, but I wouldnt give back one day of it!

One of the things I have noticed is that my hair is much healthier now. Also that I actually am experimenting with styles, where before all I wore was the same old wrap everyday.

As I am watching my hair grow thicker and healthier, I can only imagine what the future holds! If I had only known what I know now, I would have never begged for that very first perm for my birthday at the age of 13. I thought being like everyone else made me grown. Now I know that by being myself, I have grown. I look forward to continued growth, both for myself and my beautifully natural hair!
