- I began my loc journey on April 26, 2007. I was a chemical junkie for nearly 30 years. I decided in November 2006 to go natural with the intentions of locking my hair after a year of being natural. I tried to transition with sets and twist out, but got to frustrated with that process and the huge time committment. I decided to go for the big chop, which I did in March 2007. Soon after, I began locking.
