- A few years ago, I took 12 months out to travel a little.
During my adventures, I clicked off thousands of photo's trying to make sure I would remember everything I did.
Without knowing anything about techniques or composition, using only a cheap digital camera, I think I managed to take a handful (out of thousands) of quite good pictures.
Surprisingly, when I got home, people seemed quite excited by some of my "lucky shot" pictures, so I opened up my home here at Fotki.com so you could share in the beauty of New Zealand.
I haven’t deleted anything since those early days, so feel free to comment.
Since then, ive learned a lot, and I think it shows when looking at my more recent photos.
Recently, on a whim, I submitted a photo to the BBC in response to a request on their Look East program, only to find they’ve now displayed it on the BBC website along with some very excellent submissions from other members of the public. I’m slightly surprised by this.
Anyway, there is plenty more road to travel: The more I learn, the more I realise I still don’t know.
(Especially, it seems about taking pictures of people!).
